Survivors of centuries of genocide, slavery and exploitation, African-descent, Indigenous and people of color live with the world’s highest levels of poverty, chronic disease and environmental distress. These are complex, interlinked issues. However, necessity is truly the mother of invention, and some of the most promising climate crisis solutions are emerging from these communities.

Blending ancient wisdom with cutting edge technology, although underfunded, they are creating innovative solutions to restore personal, economic and environmental health that could benefit the world. Fragmented interventions to our planet’s health do not promote lasting solutions to the Earth’s environmental problems. An “ecohealth” lens on climate change addresses the multiple human and environmental factors that need to be impacted to renew our natural resources. Women are at the forefront of these efforts but do not receive equal visibility, funding or development support.

The WISE Fund is a start-up women’s climate impact technology fund.

We provide seed funding and development coaching to promising and scalable Afro-descendant, Indigenous, women of color-led or benefitting climate impact technology (CIT) organizations that improve health, economic inclusion, and equity of women while restoring natural environments.

We support eligible projects and organizations in Africa, Australia, Brazil, India and the United States. A blended fund, WISE gets support from individual donors, social impact investors, angel investors as well as institutional philanthropists.
